What is the best anti-virus/spyware package?
On the web you will find different sites that have reviews of security products and most of the time a product that gets top reviews on one site might not do so well in another. This could be due to the fact of sites wanting to promote the products they sell.
We will be taking a different approach. Rather than telling you what the better product is we will try to educate you on what to look out for in security software. Then we will provide you with the test results published by an independent testing organization. Using this information you should be able to make an informed decision on what product suits your needs the best.
Most of the reviews on antivirus and spyware products seem to concentrate on the following
♦ Scan speed (How fast a product is able to scan your computer)
♦ Detection rates (How many of the infections the product is able to identify)
♦ CPU, memory and other resource usage (A product with a good detection rate is not practical to use if it slows down your computer too much)
♦ Ease of use and user friendliness (Note that this is a subjective measure. What is easy and innovative to use for one person might not be for another. Rather than relying on others word we recommend that you download a trial version of the software and determine for yourself how easy or difficult a particular product is to use)
Similarly important functionality that most reviews overlook but you should consider are
♦ False negative rate (This is when a product scans a file and fails to identify an infected file and treats it as harmless; a high false negative rate might actually help the product to score a good scan speed while offering you little or no protection)
♦ False positive rate (This is when a product identifies harmless files as infected; a high false positive rate might actually help the product score a good detection rate however can cause catastrophic result on the usability of the computer)
♦ Disinfection/removal rate (Some products may have high detection rates however perform poorly at disinfections. This means if you already have the product installed on a clean computer you are well secured. On the other hand if you are trying to use such a product to try to clean an infected computer we wish you the best of luck with that!!!)

"If you plan to buy an Anti-Virus, please visit the vendor's site and evaluate their software by downloading a trial version, as there are also many other features (e.g. firewall, HIPS, behaviorblocker, etc.) and important things (e.g. price, graphical user interface, compatibility, etc.) for an Anti-Virus that you should evaluate by yourself. Even if quite important, the data provided in the test reports on this site are just some aspects that you should consider when buying Anti-Virus software.”
How long before I receive the product(s) I paid for?
Unless stated as CD or Boxed product; the serial number/activation code will be sent you by e-mail. As per the terms and conditions of our webste once payment has been received your code will be e-mailed to you within 1/2 a day to 1 day under normal conditions. In situations where there are concerns about the transaction (e.g: credit card fraud) this time will be extended and you will be contacted by us. Please note that orders paid for by bank transfer will only be processed after payment has actually been received into the account. CDs and Boxed products can take up to 5 days for you to receive by mail/courier.
I live outside Australia, Do I need to pay GST?
NO!!! GST needs to be paid by only those living in Australia.
When you checkout a product and enter your billing address; if you are not in Australia the GST amount will be removed from the total price that you need to pay
Why can I not find any software to download in samssoftware.com.au?
For security reasons (mostly for your own safety) we currently do not host any installation programs on our web site. When you purchase a activation code in electronic format from us; we will e-mail you links to download the software from our partners website together with instructions on how to install and configure the software.
